Handing in a Job Application After the Deadline

Submitting a Job Application After the Deadline Submitting a Job Application After the Deadline While your odds of getting a meeting in the wake of presenting a late application are thin. Be that as it may, there's additionally no damage in as yet presenting an application. It's conceivable that the organization may consider your application on the off chance that it hasnt got enough continues from qualified candidates by the end of the cutoff time. At the point when the cutoff time hits, they may at present be searching for extraordinary individuals. You could be one of them. Why Employers Set Closing Dates As an immovable standard, its in every case much better in the event that you present your request for employment by the end date. That is simply presence of mind. Associations set shutting dates to remove the quantity of uses they should consider for empty positions. They give the activity presenting enough time on draw in an adequate candidate pool, however less time that the volume of utilizations overpowers individuals screening those applications. On the off chance that its basic for the situation to be filled rapidly, the association may set a shorter cutoff time than it typically would. Cutoff times Matter You need to upgrade your odds of landing the position by demonstrating the organization you can follow its reported cutoff time. The cutoff time mitigates the chance the association will enlist somebody who experiences difficulty with cutoff times. On the off chance that somebody neglects to turn in an application on schedule, the association can be suspicious about giving that individual additional cutoff times to miss. The example size for estimating delay is infinitesimal, yet that is all the association needs to pass judgment. Presently is a decent an ideal opportunity to show the organization you can comply with time constraints with no issue. How Online Applications Ensure Timeliness Online application frameworks make it simple for candidates to guarantee they turn in their application materials on schedule. Numerous frameworks permit every candidate to check the advancement of a submitted application through the employing procedure. In the event that employing supervisors and HR office staff stay up with the latest, they get less calls and messages from candidates asking about a specific candidate's remaining in the recruiting procedure. Be that as it may, Sometimes You Cant Help But Miss the Deadline All things being equal, here and there you cannot comply with the time constraint for reasons beyond your ability to do anything about. Lets state you just went over the activity posting today, and youre stunned to see the cutoff time was yesterday. Or then again a couple of days prior. However, its the ideal occupation for you, and you know youd be a perfect fit! Or on the other hand perhaps you missed the cutoff time since life disrupted the general flow. Perhaps you knew about the cutoff time ahead of time, however unavoidable conditions kept you from complying with the time constraint. Stuff occurs. In either case, dont despair. Present your application immediately! Be that as it may, dont waver about it any longer. Get splitting on it immediately and complete that application right away. The entryway is shutting. In either circumstance, your application may get took note. Particularly in a tight activity showcase, organizations are continually searching for skilled, persevering, qualified workers. You may very well be the specific individual theyre searching for. Opening the Door for Future Opportunities Heres another motivation behind why it tends to be alright to present your application after a cutoff time. Perhaps youre not an ideal fit for the position you applied for, however perhaps the organization needs somebody whos simply like you for another position-another that it might possibly have publicized. Perhaps a new position order just sprung up in the division, and the organization concludes you may be directly for it even before its posted. Theres another chance. Perhaps the organization doesnt need somebody like you at this moment, yet potentially the employing chief will take one gander at your resume and choose to remember you for future chances. You probably won't land the position you applied for-yet the organization may get in touch with you not far off about another position.

Three Tips on How to Handle the Age Factor on Your Resume

Three Tips on How to Handle the Age Factor on Your Resume Its a well known fact that ageism is wild in the recruiting procedure, and there are a lot of reasons why businesses once in a while incline toward more youthful up-and-comers. From the organization's perspective, these include: More experience frequently means a higher beginning compensation The misguided judgment that more seasoned laborers are not on top of the ebb and flow innovation Dread that a more seasoned up-and-comer will be resigning soon Worries about a more seasoned representative being reluctant as well as incapable to work with more youthful individuals and learn new procedures and abilities I've spoken with such huge numbers of occupation searchers in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who are very much aware of these worries and unsure of how to show on their resumes and in interviews that they are enthusiastic about their work, eager to take on new difficulties, and want to remain at work for a huge timeframe. They regularly ask me how to deal with the age factor on their resumes. 1.) Career Chronology Your age ought not be clear from your resume. This may appear to be odd since a resume has consistently been a rundown of the profession history, so how might it abstain from uncovering more established dates? All things considered, with current accepted procedures a resume normally wouldn't return farther than 10-12 years (or 10-15 years for administrators) in order to concentrate on the latest and significant experience. There are exemptions, yet generally, if your resume is as yet specifying old jobs from the mid 2000s (or even the 90s), you can don't hesitate to hack that bit off completely, or lessen it to a concise vocation note that would be set toward the finish of the Professional Experience area and commonly read this way: Recently exceeded expectations as Operations Manager for XYZ Corporation including slicing customer dispatching costs half through installation upgrade in a joint effort with maker. With this announcement, you get the advantage of demonstrating the accomplishment and the organization name, without indicating the more seasoned date. 2.) Career Summary Another space where I regularly observe individuals dating themselves is the primary sentence of the profession outline. Beginning with a sentence like this is amazingly normal: Prepared proficient with 20+ years in the medicinal services industry driving high-sway groups. From the activity searcher point of view, those long periods of experience are significant; they assisted with sharpening the applicant's aptitudes and information on the business and field. In any case, from a business' point of view, consider it along these lines: Have you at any point seen work posting that called for a long time of understanding? Rather than assuming acknowledgment for those years, and quickly raising the worries referenced above about employing a more seasoned up-and-comer, consider eliminating the aggregate and referencing just 15+ long stretches of understandingâ€"or in any event, prior that fairly stale sentence altogether! Contemplate an individual marking proclamation, which may peruse this way: Provincial Operations Manager steers culture of regard, correspondence, and continuous improvement. Worldwide Finance Executive dispenses with wasteful aspects and reinforces brand esteem. Enduring CIO and rehearsing doctor drives predominant patient consideration and social insurance forms by utilizing inventive IT arrangements. 3.) Education Another segment of the resume where individuals regularly show their age pointlessly is the Education area. There is definitely no motivation to incorporate the date of graduation except if it was very later (inside 5-7 years). Basically including the degree, college, and area is totally standard. Keep away from: Four year certification in liberal arts in English, George Washington University, 1979 Use: Four year certification in liberal arts in English, George Washington University, Washington, D.C. When these regions are dealt with, you can likewise concentrate on the introductory letter as a magnificent space to accentuate your pledge to taking on another drawn out circumstance with the organization you are keen on. I would likewise make certain to address why you are enthusiastic about joining the particular association, to help show that you will be a devoted worker. With this methodology, the peruser will have the option to concentrate on your incentive instead of your age, and with an upgraded continue they will be so dazzled by your accomplishments and commitments that the early introduction will bring you through to the meeting and past!

Navigating the Roadblocks to an Encore Career - Hallie Crawford

Navigating the Roadblocks to an Encore Career - Hallie Crawford Have you ever wondered how some people are able to create an encore career and wish you could be one of those people. Those who achieve encore career goals are those who have a bias toward action. They realize there is no perfect time and plow through the following five roadblocks to success: 1. Analysis paralysis. Gather the hard data, but at some point you should be armed with enough information to make a decision. Give yourself a decision deadline and commit to it. 2. Fear of failure. Acknowledge it. Allow it to propel you forward to action. Develop a contingency plan (Plan B). 3. Inaccurate assumptions. Expose yourself to others thinking, including a devils advocate. Hire a coach to ask you the tough questions. 4. Approval from others. Remain focused on the objective. Often those closest to you have a vested interest in your decision and are biased. This is the time to respectfully damn the grenade throwers and to thy own self be true. 5. Fear of change. It is more comfortable to live in the status quo. Recognize there is a cost to not changing. How to Answer curveball interview questions

How to Answer curveball interview questions by Michael Cheary ‘If you could be any kind of animal, what would you be?’Ah, the classic curveball interview question. Meant to test your creativity/keep you on your toes/see how many times you can say ‘um’ before it gets awkward/all of the above.Your answers to this type of question will not only help the interviewer to understand what type of person you are, they’ll also show how well you can work under pressure. And whilst there are often no right or wrong answers, there are some tips to help make sure you’re not caught short. We’ve already covered some pretty difficult questions (unless you’re an expert on basketball and biscuits), so to follow up here are five curveball questions that could come up at the interview courtesy of James Reed’s bestselling book, ‘Why You: 101 Interview Questions You’ll Never Fear Again’:If you were an animal, what would you be?The archetypal interview curveball, this question could come up in a number of different guis es.However, whether it’s the type of animal you are, the superpower you’d choose, or even determining the correct colour packaging for a packet of salt vinegar crisps, this question is essentially a test of creativity. In other words, it’s not what you answer, but how you answer that counts. It’s important not to rush yourself. A simple ‘give me a moment to think about this one’ will buy you a few seconds of thinking time. Then try and think of an answer which brings in some necessary skills for the role, whilst also showing off who you really are.Right answer: ‘I think I’d be a duck. They’re always calm on the surface, but hustling like crazy to get things done underneath’.If all else fails, say you’re a Kestrel. Always go with Kestrel.Wrong answer: ‘Definitely a Tiger. Grrrr…’Every CV has one lie in it. What’s yours?Research shows that as many as one in five jobseekers admits to lying on their CV.However, whether you choose to blur the lines or not, t here’s one person in the room who you definitely don’t want to tell: the interviewer.Even if you’ve been a little ‘creative’ with your chronology, answers here should always be in the negative. You could even use a little humour to break the tension, and reassure your employer that everything you’ve written is above-board.(You could also, you know, just tell the truth in your CV. That too…) Right answer: ‘OK, so “active lifestyle” may have been a bit of a stretch. I do go and sit in the sauna in my gym from time-to-time, if that counts? On a serious note though, I don’t believe there are any lies on my CV. I believe integrity is very important and that starts with your CV’Wrong answer: ‘Pass’Would you rather be liked or feared? While this could also be considered a character question, the fact that it’s almost a deliberate trick question means it could be considered in the curveball bracket.Luckily, the answer to dealing with a question like this is dece ptively simple. Don’t answer it. You may have been presented with a straight choice, but there’s an unspoken option waiting for you to take full advantage of.Acknowledge the original framing of the question, but explain why it would be impossible for you to choose from what’s on the table. Then offer a third, alternative answer, before sitting back and admiring your own seemingly-instant ingenuity. Right answer: ‘Well I certainly wouldn’t want to be feared. Personally I think fear is a terrible motivator, and could lead to some uncomfortable situations. Everyone wants to be liked, but it isn’t always possible. Sometimes you have to do unpopular things to get the job done. I’d much sooner be respected, but have my co-workers understand that I always do my best for the team as a whole.’Wrong answer: ‘I want people to be afraid of how much they like me.’Where does your boss think you are now?In other words, are you the kind of employee who would openly lie to my fac e?This question is a good measure of character, but shouldn’t be taken lightly. Admitting that you lied to your current employer in any way, shape or form, is unlikely to endear you to your interviewer. Even ‘white lies’ have the potential to make you appear unreliable or, worse, untrustworthy. The safest thing to do in this situation is to either say you booked a day’s leave in advance or explain that you worked it in around your schedule. Notable exceptions include temporary or freelance roles, and redundancies. If it’s clear that you have no long-term future at a company, only the most unreasonable of bosses would stand in your way.And don’t be tempted to go with the overly ambiguous ‘for personal reasons’ option. Pulling on your manager’s heartstrings can only ever end badly. Right answer: ‘I booked today as annual leave. I know colleagues who have lied about their whereabouts in the past, but it’s not something I’d be comfortable doing’Wrong answer: ‘ I’m not sure really. I just kind of walked out…’Sell me this pen…Finally, the perennial interview ‘sales-pitch’ favourite.*However, this question isn’t simply intended as an assessment of your sales skills. Instead, it’s all about identifying the needs of the buyer. No matter how great an object is, if the buyer has no desire to purchase, you won’t make a successful sale. It’s all about the questions you ask, finding out about an issue they have, and demonstrating how your product can solve the problem. So forget about features and benefits, and concentrate on your questioning. (Don’t worry, this even works with ugly pens). Right answer: ‘Do you do a lot of writing in your spare time?’Wrong answer: ‘You know how you were saying earlier that you needed a pen…’ *Particularly if interview takes place in a pen shop. Need more interview questions? Not sure any of these questions will come up? Don’t panic. Here are several highly-effective strategies for closing a job interview: Demonstrate your enthusiasm about the position or companyPose a memorable question to the interviewerReinforce the idea that you are the perfect cultural fit for the jobResolve any mishaps you had during the job interviewDrop a powerful personal closing statement   (scroll down for examples!)Now let’s dig into each of these strategies!Express Your Enthusiasm For The Job When Closing The InterviewIn most cases, an interviewer will ask you the popular “Why do you want to work here? interview question throughout your conversation. And thats when you prope rly explain your motivation and enthusiasm. However, it’s always a good idea to circle back to your motivation when closing your interview. Here are several elegant ways to do so:Restate your desire for the job: But don’t sound desperate, ok? Simply explain that after getting more information about the position and the company, you feel even more positive about joining the department for reasons X, Y, Z (summarizing your motivation).Sprinkle in some subtle praise and flattery for the company: You can talk about their positive office culture, how your beliefs align with the company ethos and that you share the same desires that are stated in their mission statement.Explain what drives you to pursue this position: Showcase how your passion for your career niche is driving you to pursue this new job. Here’s a sample interview closing statement to illustrate the last point a graphic designer might use:“I’m really into this position as I’m rather hands-on and love seeing how my sketches and prototypes turn into new digital products that bring joy to customers.”  Learn Which Questions to Ask at The End of an InterviewAnother way to close an interview with a bang is by asking the interviewer one or two quick strategic questions. The truth is: most HRs expect you to ask them a question.Doing so shows them several things at once:Your genuine interest in the job/companyThe fact that you did some research tooThat you are really proactive and engagedBut not just any random question will win you those extra points, alright? Your questions should be with a twist, allowing you to sneakily reveal some more positive personal qualities. Here are four really savvy questions to ask at the end of the interview:Did I answer all your questions? â€" this question can elicit some early performance feedback from the interviewer and give you extra room to address some issues. What types of soft skills serve the company and the position best? â€" the HRs reply can give you a bet ter idea of the managerial culture and the companys leadership practices. And by asking this question you show that you are a well-rounded professional, whos equally investing time honing in both hard and soft skills. What are the challenges of this position? â€" such an inquiry shows that you have realistic job expectations and are not afraid to get hands-down into the work. How do you help the employees grow professionally? â€" this one indicates that you are an avid learner, a quality most organizations value a lot.Paint a Larger Picture and Show That You Are a Strong Cultural FitWhen you think about it, the position that you are applying for is just one piece of a much larger puzzle. You need to demonstrate to your interviewer that you are not only a perfect fit for the role, but will seamlessly fit into the company as a whole. So if the interviewer asks you something like “Do you want to tell us anything else about you?” at the end of the interview, frame your reply to demonst rate your fit. Here are several ways to do so:Show that you understand how your future performance will affect the company’s bottom line. You can do so by doing so research on the competition, customers, and core industry trends.Demonstrate that you are a team player and you understand why effective collaboration is key in every company. Provide a quick example of a joint project you’ve worked for.Mention how you like to be managed. Doing so demonstrates to the hiring manager that you know how to self-organize, plus can thrive under the right management approach and take different types of direction.Talk about your hobbies.   If you know that the company plays football every Friday or does some other activities that are in line with your interests (e.g. yoga classes, volunteering, etc), draw the managers attention to this fact.A memorable closing statement for the latter can go like:By the way, Ive noticed that your company regularly volunteers at Happy Puppy Shelter, Im an owner of two rescue dogs myself, and donate to HelpDoggo Org monthly”.    Address Any Sharp Edges You Had During the Job InterviewLet’s face it: not every job interview will be as soft and smooth as melted butter. No one’s immune to “choking” even on the most common job interview questions. So use your closing statement to do some rapid damage control and address the mishaps.Firstly, you can be blunt and ask directly if the interviewer has any concerns over your abilities to do this job.Doing so can help you weed out any doubts they may be having and proactively address them in your closing statement. For example:“Indeed, I don’t have as much experience working with CoolCRM software, but I’m rather familiar with similar software X. Plus, I did learn basic HTML all by myself back in high school, so I’m rather confident that I could master this tool, too. Besides, my experience with   software Y is transferable.”  Always Work on Your Interview Closing Statements Ahead of TimeDoing your homework in preparation for your job interview is crucial if you want to come across as a credible candidate for the position. Plus, by carefully studying the company website and job description you will be able to come up with highly personalized closing statement variations even on the spot. But if you want to play it safe, here are several more closing statement examples you can swipe!Memorable and Persuasive Closing Statement ExamplesI was excited about this interview, so thanks for having me. I now also have a better idea of the position and your corporate values which makes me even more confident about my ability to perform well in this position. Going forward, is there anything else you need to know from me?“This challenge is exciting, it is such a great opportunity to apply my [core skill 1] and [knowledge in some area] to help your company get even further ahead of [some competitor]. When can I expect to hear from you?”Address Any Concerns Before Leaving The Room“Do you have any reasons why my application will not progress to the next step? I would like to clarify any doubts now that may affect my chances of getting this job”“I am aware that there are other suitably qualified candidates interviewing for this role, but I am extremely confident that I am the right choice for the following reasons (state your strengths and suitability for the role again).”Closing Your Interview With Some Positivity and FlatteryAlways close your interview on a positive note where you leave a lasting impression with everyone’s energy on a high. Here are a couple of good examples of closing on a positive tone:“I thank you for your time here today. You have provided me with a very clear outline of this position and I’m particularly thrilled to apply my [domain knowledge] in this role. I am confident that my skills and experience will bring real value to the team and your company as a whole. Can I ask what I should do next to make sure that I get this position?”“I knew that this job was going to be an excellent position when I learned that your company [does something related to their mission statement]. After my interview today I am even more convinced that I’d like to be part of that movement. Is there something else you need to know that will help further confirm that I am the right applicant for this job?”Wrap UpAsking the right questions at the end of the interview can make all the difference between bringing your interview to a positive close or leaving with a shadow of doubt floating in your interviewer’s mind.So don’t be afraid to drop a lofty closing statement or proactively ask yet another question. Doing so will demonstrate the employer (yet again) just how motivated you are. The more interest you show in the job and the company, the more interest you will receive in return! previous article

Can Tweeting Get You Fired

Can Tweeting Get You Fired Can Tweeting Get You Fired There has been a great deal of #TwitterBacklash in the previous scarcely any years. Significant brands are running their mouths in 140 characters or less. Some are following through on the cost. Kenneth Cole once tweeted Millions are in turmoil in #Cairo. Gossip is they heard our new spring assortment is currently accessible on the web… In the event that a mayhem is the thing that KC needed, they unquestionably got it. Nothing goes unnoticed on Twitter and a quick outcry naming Cole inhumane, among the more pleasant terms constrained the organization to bring down the Tweet, issue two withdrawals and a Facebook conciliatory sentiment. Supposedly, it was Cole himself who wrote the Tweet so no one's head moved for that one. Fashiontweetsta Style creator Marc Jacobs' CEO Robert Duffy tweets for the organization. A significant part of the draw of Duffy's live continuous flow (@MarcJacobsIntl) is his self-declared absence of channel - I do over offer. Gotta stop. Get myself in a difficult situation, Duffy has tweeted previously. Duffy reported yesterday, by means of Twitter, that his rule as the organization's mouthpiece will end. There's no sign that Duffy lost his post as a result of previously mentioned over sharing. You, in any case, may not be as fortunate as these glib heads-of-state. And in case you'r e not a decent essayist, there will once in a while be more work for your supervisor to do, supposing that they care about how you or the organization is running over, they'll need to fix your composed work. Here are seven hints for improving as a writer:1. Peruse a ton, in a perfect world from as early an age as possible. In my experience, the most ideal approach to turn into an extraordinary essayist is to read. A ton. Perusing extends your jargon, sets your punctuation, empowers you to draw motivation from extraordinary essayists, and then some. So read before bed. Peruse on your drive on the off chance that you take open transportation. Peruse at whatever point you have time, all the time.2. Survey all that you write. I'm not great, however I audit everything, including messages. This guarantees my composing is liberated from botches. Take the additional couple of moments to give your keeping in touch with one more read. It's worth it!3. Use as scarcely any words as conceivable t o convey your meaning. Less is quite often more. No one needs to peruse a 200-word message that could have handily been 50.4. In the event that there's a more straightforward word, use it. Good correspondence is tied in with expressing what is on your mind in the most effortless manner feasible for the peruser to process it. Simply, straightforward words work best. There's no compelling reason to state you scattered data when you sent it.5. Ensure your focuses are parallel. Now we're getting off course a piece, yet I absolutely notice this one. Neglecting to utilize an equal structure can corrupt in any case great composition. For instance, if five of the six capabilities on your resume start with action words however one doesn't, that solitary anomaly will feel off and make you look less qualified.6. Use accounts and models any place you can. A story is worth 1,000 words. Including one at whatever point potential causes you associate with the peruser so they recall your message.7. At the point when it makes a difference, have somebody alter your work. We all miss botches in our own composition. At NakedPoppy, the perfect magnificence startup I helped to establish, we have our inhabitant grammarian go over each and every web based life and blog entry before it goes live.Writing is an outlet for your knowledge to radiate through. The Age Old Question...

The Age Old Question... So way back in the day I asked you all what you wanted to hear. Among the great comments, I got this one from Staci: How about age as a topic? I know it’s totally acceptable for a man to date a younger woman, but what about when a woman dates a younger man? It’s still considered taboo! I’m currently dating a guy that’s 5 years younger than me. Yeah, it is a little weird. It’s sometimes difficult to tell if his actions are due to his age or not. Time will tell? Anyway it’d be interesting to hear other’s thoughts. So what do you think? When, if ever, does age matter? To me it seems the older you get, the more year-notches on the belt,  the less important it is. My mom dated a man 5 years older than her and it wasnt even discussed. My twenty-something friend is dating a man 5 years older than her and it is a topic, but still, not too bad. When I dated a man 5 years older than me when I was 15, that was an issue. (this is fact did not happen but is a hypothetical 15-year-old me) It also could be more of a where you are in life situation than actual age. So for example, in Stacis situation, even though this man might be 5 years younger, if he is looking to settle down/has the same career goals/wants the same things in life, maybe it isnt an issue at all. According to my mathematical friend, your appropriate dating age is your age, divided by two, plus 7. So 24/2+7= 19. Ewe. But what happens when your friends and his his friends have a mutual get together? Is it oldies in one corner and youngins in the other? How does that work? So what do you think? Anyone else have an age difference dating situation? Lets talk. Happy Thursday yall!
